Hrithik Rings In 34th Birthday

Actor Hrithik Roshan turns 34 today. The actor has decided to spend a quiet birthday with his family and close ones. He and his family will be having a havan and pooja this morning at their residence. The pooja will be followed by a family lunch. Clearly, the Jodha Akbar actor, who is still recuperating from his knee injury, is no mood for celebrations.

Films were a part of Hirthik's legacy. What with his grandfather being the famous music director of yore, Roshan; his father Rakesh Roshan is an actor, his uncle Rajesh Roshan, a music composer, and his maternal grandfather, J Om Prakash, a film director. It was in that sense, a very filmy environment into which the young Hrithik was born and bred. He made his mark as a child actor itself when he gave a stellar performance in Bhagwan Dada and Aap Ke Deewane, both which starred his father as well. But it was in the year 2000, the new millennium, that Hrithik emerged as the superstar with the blockbuster Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, directed by his father. A star had definitely arrived and Hrithik bagged many awards that year for his debut venture. He went onto give a critically acclaimed performance in Khalid Mohammed's Fiza and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir.

The following year saw him deliver the first dud of his career, Subhash Ghai's Yaadein. But it was followed by Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, where he managed to hold his own against veterans like Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The year 2002 proved to be a little unlucky for Hrithik as his films like Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage, flopped miserably. But he bounced back in 2003 with Koi Mil Gaya, again directed by his father. Farhan Akhtar's Lakshya followed and even though the film did not do too well, his performance as always, came in for a lot of praise. Hrithik took a two-year break before he bounced back with Krrish, a sequel to Koi Mil Gaya and Dhoom 2, a sequel to the earlier Dhoom. Now, all eyes are set on Ashutosh Gowarikar's magnum opus Jodha Akbar. Hrithik's strength as an actor has always been his superb body language, and his knack for getting into the skin of his character. There is absolutely no doubt that in his generation of actors, he is head and shoulders above the rest. We all would like to wish him a very happy birthday.!
