He may have acted as an outlaw umpteen times on the screen but the terror attacks in Mumbai were enough to shake Amitabh Bachchan up who kept his revolver under his pillow while going to sleep.
"Last night, as the events of the terror attack unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do.
Before retiring for the night, I pulled out my licensed .32 revolver, loaded it and put it under my pillow. For a very disturbed sleep," the megastar wrote on his blog.
Bachchan was glued to TV screen as security personnel battled the militants yesterday, also the birth anniversary of his father.
Bachchan, known for his on-screen 'Angry Young Man' image depicting the rebellious youth, fumed with anger at the "ineptitude of the authorities" who were supposed to take care of the country.
"My pain has been the sight and plight of my innocent and vulnerable and completely insecure countrymen, facing the wrath of this terror attack. And my anger has been at the ineptitude of the authorities that have been ordained to look after us," Big B expressed in his blog.
Lauding the efforts of troops in tackling the terrors ituation, he wrote "brilliant officers and police personnel
have laid down their lives for us. I can only but salute them and respect their sincerity in the call of duty." Bachchan was disgruntled over the cliche "spirit of Mumbai" which he said people were using to cover the traumatic experiences that the merry city underwent in recent years.
"Yes Mumbai is strong and resilient and shall not be cowed down by any such occurrence. But let us not conveniently use it as our cover sheet, pull it over our heads and go off to sleep," he said.
Despite repeated requests by electronic channels to issue a statement on the tragedy, Bachchan refused to do so.
An irked Bachchan wrote in bold, "Tell me and order me instead that we require every Indian to get up and walk into the facilities where the action is on and I will be the first to walk.
"But, please do not ask me to come and make sloppy statements that will do nothing more than create viewer interest."

Monica is my wife: Abu Salem

Life behind bars has not dimmed underworld don Abu Salem's attraction towards actress and former lover Monia Bedi as today he once again publicly said that she was his wife, a claim which has been refuted by her on several occasions.

"Monica Bedi is my wife," said the gangster, who has been in jail for three years, while coming out of a Delhi court.

Just when Salem, sporting a black shirt and blue jeans, stepped out of the court mediapersons asked him questions about Bedi and the don, who usually deflects queries, obliged by reiterating that the two were husband and wife.

Salem's claim in public about the alleged relationship between the two comes in the backdrop of the actress' earlier attempts to refute the don's stand that the two were married.

The don had been brought to the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja here by Mumbai Police for a hearing in connection with an alleged extortion call made to a businessman six years ago.

Earlier, Bedi in her interviews had said that although she knew Salem for several years they had never got married.

Salem and Bedi's friendship has also seen some legal drama earlier. He had served a legal notice on Bedi saying that he was "deeply hurt" and "distressed" by her statements denying their marriage.

In his notice, he had claimed that the duo got married in a mosque at Los Angeles in November 2000. Salem had said that his anguish has been "multiplied manifold" since he was unable to communicate with Bedi.

Salem has been lodged at the Arthur road jail in Central Mumbai, ever since his deportation from Portugal in November 2005.

The don had claimed in the notice that he had always actively encouraged and supported Bedi's acting career and if their marriage was causing her any hardship in that regard then he was willing to "move out of her life and divorce her".

In an emotional vein, the notice had said that Salem's "love for Bedi shall never diminish or fade away even if she desired to split up or sever their marital ties."

The don had said that if Bedi wanted divorce then she could convey the same to him in writing and he would "though heart-broken, soulfully pronounce a `talaq' (divorce)".

Salem is facing trial in eight cases registered in different parts of the country, including 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, murder of builder Pradeep Sharma in 1995 and murder of actor Manisha Koirala's secretary Ajit Deewani in 2002.

http://meetshahrukhkhan.com/

Chennai, Nov 18 (IANS) Tamil superstar Rajnikant has decided to head his own fan club association, its current head Sudhakar said here Tuesday.
'Vested interests have spread false rumours about Satyanarayana, that the former personal assistant of Thalaivar (boss) has been sacked following criticism expressed by fans during an interactive session here,' Sudhakar, the current in-charge of the All India Rajnikant Fans Association, told IANS.
'Actually, due to the long sickness of his parents - his mother passed away recently - Satyanarayana could not attend to the work and requested for a break. Left with no option, Rajnikant himself decided to run the organisation,' Sudhakar added.
Satyanarayana separately said: 'Every day I was supposed to attend at least 10 intense meetings and could not do so for over 20 days due to personal and family preoccupations. It was my leader who advised me against straining myself mentally and physically.'
Several fans had argued that the movie icon's latest movie 'Kuselan' did not fare well at the box office due to the disorganised state of the fan clubs as their functionaries were weaned away by other actor-turned-politicians like Sarath Kumar and Vijaykanth.
'Kuselan' bombed at the box office two months ago, triggering a minor crisis in the south Indian film industry.

Dostana Movie - An Entertaining one

It's just that when one of the most successful movie studios in the country makes a film with two mainstream actors pretending to be gay, you would like a little more than good-looking fun presented predictably on a plate. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.
Dostana is exactly as you'd expect from the trailers. Shilpa Shetty pops up wearing a bikini, Priyanka Chopra makes Neal'N'Nikki leftovers look very good indeed, and John Abraham's bottom plays a starring role. In between, there's a plot cobbled from I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry, and a surprisingly broad Jhoom Barabar Jhoom feel given to Abhishek Bachchan, who inevitably does much better this time around.
Yet for all its potentially paisa-vasool assets, Tarun Mansukhani's debut film is a crucial blunder. Making an entire film out of Kal Ho Naa Ho's Kantaben joke was always going to be a stretch, and while the male stars earn applause by throwing themselves this heartily into a risky project, it ends up as a shamefully regressive film.
We in India haven't yet matured to sensitive, normalised portrayals of homosexuality, and this film continues to paint them as freaks of nature. John and Abhishek play a couple of decidedly homophobic straight men pretending to be gay, and every other gay character in the film is a complete, flamin' caricature. It isn't wrong to show a stereotypically effeminate man, of course, but to make absolutely no attempt to balance this is to damage an already-fragile mindset.

The problem then is that the film is genuinely entertaining, albeit very obvious, in a way that it is likely to be a smash hit and reach millions of people -- setting the gay rights movement in India back at least a decade. Sigh. Nobody expected a Brokeback Mountain, but a dollop or two of perspective tossed in the middle of all the item songs and bling wouldn't hurt now, would it?
There are a couple of deft moments, sure. Kirron Kher, playing Bachchan's mother, earnestly hams her way through a scene where she makes John cross the threshold of the house, like a new bride. The muscled actor does so gleefully, knowing how embarrassed Abhishek would be, after which Kher blesses the couple, and candidly admits she doesn't know which of them is bride and which is groom. It's a nice little candid aside on the unpreparedness of an older generation, on their need to label and their unfamiliarity with these newfangled sexual dynamics.
Meanwhile, John Abraham is clearly at ease grooving to songs originally made iconic by his girlfriend. He's also evidently enjoying being the new Salman Khan, showing off more chest than a Bigg Boss contestant and demonstrating a loathing for shirt buttons. Again, he too seems to be having a good time, and that's the best possible thing to happen for an on-screen bunch. He's much easier in front of the camera now, and he makes the flimsily written character rather likeable.
Abhishek is the pick of the actors, no doubt about it. Called on to play an over-the-top pink-loving straight man - who seems far too interested in pretending to be gay - Bachchan does a spot on job as he stays over the top and ends up being a pretty enjoyable buffoon. Clearly an actor who likes getting under the skin of his character, this is a role that calls for much self-deprecation and embarrassment, and Bachchan embraces them quite well.
Overall, it's an average piece of fluff - but one of the most hideously insensitive things to come out of Bollywood in a long while. Boman Irani shouldn't have played the part he does, and Karan Johar shouldn't have let this film turn out the way it has.
This film is a joke; but the last thing we need is India thinking homosexuality's just another gag.

Will Shahrukh Khan retain his King Tag ?

After lying low for more than a year, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen this December with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The film stars newcomer Anushka Sharma, a model. The low-budget film has only three characters, played by Shah Rukh, Vinay Pathak and Anushka.
Rab Ne... marks Aditya Chopra's return to direction. Adi's last film was the 2000 Mohabbatein, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh and Aishwarya Rai. Since then, he has focussed on making Yash Raj Films the most powerful studio in Bollywood.
In a recent interview, Shah Rukh revealed there are only three people in the film industry from whom he seeks advice: directors Farah Khan, Karan Johar and Adi.
Adi and SRK's association began when the actor worked on Yash Chopra's Darr and was cemented on Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, the younger Chopra's 1995 movie debut.
DDDLJ is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema. More than 600 weeks, you can still watch it at Mumbai's famous Maratha Mandir theatre.
It also commenced SRK's friendship with Karan Johar, one of Adi's assistants on the film; KJo also had a bit part as one of Shah Rukh's friends.
The critics carped that Yashji had lost his sure touch, but audiences loved the cast, the thin storyline and Uttam Singh's music, especially the title song that plays almost daily on one of India's FM radio stations. The film also starred today's biggest Hindi movie star in a tiny role, a certain Akshay Kumar.
2007 was one of the best years for Shah Rukh; his other film Om Shanti Om, which he produced, made a big splash at the box office.
